KGF: REVIEW
Hello everyone, I am back again, for those who were wondering where I went, I actually stopped writing a while ago. But as new year comes with new year resolution, let me take one too. So it will be my new year resolution to publish at least one article/week. I have said this before, but this time I will give my 1000% to keep writing.
So 2018 came to an end and now we are in 2019, I wish each and everyone reading this article a very happy new year. 2018 was a great year for Hindi cinema as people started appreciating the content rather than blindly supporting already established stars. Small budget movies like Badhai Ho, Andhadhun, Stree, Raazi and many more were applauded by the audiences because of their content while the movies of the mainstream actors (mainly three Khans) were not up-to the mark. One more movie which is creating a lot of buzz nowadays is a Kannada movie named KGF, so after delaying it for a week, I went to watch it and was awestruck to watch this tremendous work. Here is my review of Kolar Gold Field.
STORY (NON SPOILER)
It is a story of a child who is shown the destination by his mother but path to which he has to figure out. The only aim of our protagonist (Rocky) is to become rich and powerful as his mother was not saved due to their poverty, so he doesn’t care about the path which he chooses. So Rocky becomes the most dangerous guy around handling gold business and nothing goes/comes without approval of Rocky. During the course of time, he is asked to do a job in return to become THE top guy in Bombay. The rest of the story is about the task which he is suppose to do in Bangalore, now whether he will finish the job or will he be finished while carrying out the job, that is for you to find. (I already know :-D) — 5/5
SCREENPLAY
The screenplay sets the perfect tone of the movie as the dialogues, action sequences, background score, everything seems to be in sync with each other. The dialogues were bang on, whether it be an emotional scene or a comic one, it always keeps the audiences intact with the on-screen scene. The action sequences are brutal and they seem as real as possible. There are multiple characters in the movie, each more evil than the former which set a very dark tone for the movie and keep the adrenaline pumping for the audience. A perfect screenplay for a perfect thriller. — 4.5/5
CINEMATOGRAPHY
It is the most expensive Kannada language movie ever made and it can be figured out by looking at the camera work done in the movie. The action sequences, slow mos, close-ups and every other aspect is well above the par level. I found the cinematography in the second half as too good as it showed the reality of Kolar gold field where the actual second half took place. The brutality of people over the forced villagers who are brought there for mining, their helplessness nature and lost of hope was perfectly portrayed with the help of extensive shots. The whole shot of gold field covering various aspects was perfectly captured which connected with audiences very deeply. — 5/5
POSITIVES
I think everything was positive for movie from all the aspects whether it be the running time, dialogues, story, screenplay, action, comedy etc. The movie never felt like a rubber nor it was too slow, it was at a perfect pace. Yash was awesome in his role, he was never shown as the superman as all his moves were pretty believable. He is shown as a badass kicking machine who never backs down from what he says, no matter what. Also, they ended the movie on a higher note and now the expectations are too high from KGF:Chapter Two.
NEGATIVES
I didn’t find anything negative regarding this movie as everything was on track. The only thing which I can even point out is the fact that there was not even a single scene in the movie where our protagonist is beat or even punched, he was invincible in the movie. But by looking at his action, that also seemed believable. I couldn’t find any plot-holes nor any mistakes, maybe that could be because of the fact that I was, as already said awestruck by this movie.
So I ended my 2018 with this movie and I couldn’t suggest you any other movie rather than KGF to start your 2019 with. There are no big releases coming this week, please go and watch this spectacular entertainer and you can thank me later for this, my overall rating for this movie is, I know it doesn’t matter still — 4.8/5.
